Trump’s Crypto Gamble

source DALL-E

Bitcoin Bet Balloons: Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) disclosed that it holds nearly $2 billion in bitcoin, making it one of the largest corporate holders of the cryptocurrency. The stash accounts for roughly two-thirds of DJT’s total assets, as the firm leans heavily into crypto alongside its Truth Social platform. $BTC.X ( ▼ 0.78% )

Trump’s Crypto Crusade: The revelation aligns with Trump’s broader embrace of digital assets during his campaign. He’s touted crypto as a counterweight to central bank power, boosting DJT’s profile as a de facto pro-crypto company.

Market Ripple Effect: News of DJT’s bitcoin trove sent its shares climbing 9% and added momentum to bitcoin’s rally past $123,000. Analysts see the bet as high risk but potentially transformative if crypto adoption accelerates.

Microsoft Breach Fallout

source DALL-E

Hackers exploited a newly discovered flaw in Microsoft SharePoint: A Chinese state-backed group known as Storm-0866 used a zero-day vulnerability in Microsoft’s (MSFT) widely used SharePoint tool to deploy malware called “Deadglyph.” The attackers slipped through before the flaw was patched in May, exploiting government and enterprise servers across multiple sectors.

Beijing-linked group gets more sophisticated: The intruders’ toolset allowed them to mix legitimate software with malicious code, making detection harder. This group, previously linked to other cyber-espionage campaigns, upped their game with stealthy tactics and new exploit frameworks, reflecting a broader rise in state-sponsored cyber warfare targeting enterprise collaboration tools.

Patch issued, but damage control still underway: Microsoft’s security team has since fixed the bug and published detailed guidance, but experts warn some victims may still be compromised. Companies running older or misconfigured SharePoint instances are especially at risk if they haven’t updated. The incident also highlights growing concerns over the security of workplace productivity software.
