American Drops Forecast Amid Turbulence
✈️ American Airlines scrapped its 2025 financial guidance, citing economic uncertainty and a slowdown in domestic leisure travel—joining Delta and Southwest in pressing pause on long-term outlooks. The airline posted a $473 million Q1 loss, wider than last year, despite flat revenue.
📉 The company projected second-quarter earnings of $0.50 to $1 per share, falling short of the $0.99 Wall Street expected. It also guided revenue growth between -2% and +1%, below analysts’ 2.2% forecast.
🧳 CEO Robert Isom blamed weaker travel demand and “uncertainty” across consumer spending, despite strong international and premium bookings. The airline is still rebuilding from strategic missteps and a tragic January crash that shook operations.

Trump Targets China’s Mineral Grip
🔋 The Trump administration considered direct investments in U.S. mining companies to cut dependence on Chinese imports, with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum proposing equity stakes to help domestic firms compete against China's state-backed pricing tactics.
🛡️ Plans also included creating a sovereign risk insurance fund to reimburse companies if future administrations cancel approved mining projects, aiming to protect long-term investments from political whiplash.
📦 To stabilize the market and secure supply, Burgum floated the idea of a strategic mineral reserve—buying and stockpiling critical minerals when China floods the market and prices crash.
